INSTRUCTIONS:
Wipe down your piece with a damp sponge.
Apply 3 coats of polar bear with the large brush. Let dry. Rinse brush.
Apply 3 coats of Blazing Berry with the large brush to the inside of the mug and the
middle of the saucer. Paint the handle using the medium brush.
Use a pencil to mark off the checker pattern by sketching lines horizontally and
vertically. The lines on this plate are approximately ½ inch apart.
With the small square brush slightly damp dip it into the blazing berry. Dab excess
paint off on the table paper. Paint either the horizontal or vertical lines first. Place the
brush directly over the pencil markings so that the line is in the middle of the brush.
Barely touching the plate with the tip of the brush lightly drag the brush along the lines.
You will probably have to reload the paint once or twice to complete the line. Paint the
other set of lines the same way to create the checkerboard pattern. Paint will look light
as you are only painting one coat.
Dip the quarter sponge into the Blazing Berry. Hold the sponge between your thumb
and pointer finger pull the sponge around the rim of the plate.
Use the black writer to make the ant bodies first. The head and tail are oval with the
middle more of a rectangle. Apply the legs and antenna. Arrange the ants however you
would like.
* Practice sketching and painting the checker pattern and the ants on a practice plate
before doing the finish work on your piece.
