You're Fired A Paint Your Own Pottery and Mosaics Studio Bedford - Salem - Concord
|
Bumpy Paint is a specialty item and costs extra. Customers purchase bottles of Bumpy Paint, keep them
at home, and bring them with them when they visit the studio. Unlike the normal underglaze paints we use
which are translucent, Bumpy Paint is opaque ceramic paint. We keep bottles of it for sale behind the
cash register.
Bumpy Paint serves a customer well for many reasons. Since the colors are opaque, it means they can
use a light color over a dark color without worrying about the design being difficult to see.
The paint also remains somewhat raised after the kiln firing leaving a texture which is a nice feature. It will
flatten out a little but you can definitely feel the texture of the bumpy paint.
Bumpy Paint comes in "Writer" bottles, making it easy to dispense on the project. Due to its thickness,
however, it should be applied last, as it takes much longer to dry than normal paint.
With a lot of patience, a dot pattern can be applied with Bumpy Paint, which leaves a really cool effect.
